Using Project Units in Revit
In Importing CAD into Revit, you may encounter minor errors when aligning grids. Sometimes, components with integer dimensions display small decimal tails. Usually, these decimal tails can be ignored, but when creating construction drawings, they can affect the clarity and accuracy of the output. So, how can this issue be resolved?
Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. First, go to the Manage tab, then find the Settings panel and select Project Units. In the dialog box that appears, choose the Length command. Set the units as shown in the image below, then click OK.
2. Next, draw a grid similar to the example shown.
At this point, there are two ways to adjust the decimal tails in the dimension annotations:
Method 1: Select the dimension, then in its type properties, duplicate the dimension type to create a new one. Click on Unit Format, and check the option to Use Project Settings, as illustrated.
Method 2: Select the dimension and duplicate its type properties again to create a new dimension type. Click Unit Format and set the rounding to Three Decimal Places, as shown below.
3. After these settings, the temporary dimension annotation will display three decimal places, as demonstrated in the image.
Summary: By following these steps, you will learn how to configure project units in Revit effectively. Adjusting the decimal places helps in precise checking, while using integer dimensions simplifies the drawing process.
