Optimal Elevation View Settings for Revit Window Families

Elevation Drawing Settings for Revit Window Families

In Revit, besides layout settings, you can also customize elevation display settings for window families.

For instance, you might want to show the entire main structure of a window in fine detail on the facade, while displaying other elements in coarse or medium detail levels.

To achieve this, open the elevation view within the window family template and draw the necessary symbol lines.

Next, use filters to select the symbol lines you’ve drawn, adjust their visibility settings, and uncheck the fine detail level to ensure these lines appear only at coarse or medium detail levels.

To modify the style of your symbol lines, go to the Object Styles in the Manage tab. Here, you can change line types, colors, or even create custom styles to fit your needs.

After making these adjustments, load the family into your project template and open the elevation view. You will see that the styles you created display at coarse or medium detail, while the main window structure remains visible in fine detail.
