How to Fix the Missing Material Library Issue After Installing Autodesk Software
If you have recently installed a new Autodesk product and noticed that the Material Library is missing, you are not alone. This problem is commonly reported with 3ds Max installations but can also affect other Autodesk software or versions.
Solution:
The Material Library is a shared component that comes with several Autodesk products, including Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3ds Max.
When you install 3ds Max, the Material Library is installed by default unless you specifically uncheck the option. If you have other Autodesk applications installed, the Material Library might already be present on your system.
If the Material Library is missing after a fresh installation, you can locate its installer within the Autodesk software installation files and run it separately. These installers allow you to modify, repair, or uninstall the library as needed.
To find the Material Library installer, search your computer or installation media for files with the extension .msi that relate to the library.
Simply double-click the appropriate .msi file to begin the installation. If you have multiple Autodesk products installed, you might find several Material Library files—be sure to install the version that matches the software you are currently using.
Important: If you installed your Autodesk software via the “Install Now” option through an Autodesk Account, the installation files may not be stored on your computer, as they are deleted after installation.
