Position Parameter Variation of Model Text in Revit
In some families that require parameter variation, the position of model text needs to adjust dynamically based on those parameters. For example, as shown in the image below, we aim to achieve the following: when the model text is parameterized by width and height, the text position remains fixed and centered.
After adding the relevant parameters, aligning, and locking the text position, modifying the “Width” and “Height” parameters results in a prompt indicating “Not meeting the restriction conditions,” as demonstrated in the following figure.
This issue can be resolved through nesting. As illustrated below, create a “Surface Based Metric Conventional Model” family. Place the model text on a flat surface using the “Reference Elevation,” adjust the necessary settings such as text size and font, and lock the position that needs to be parameterized relative to the reference plane.
Once completed, load this nested family into the target family, position it accordingly, and lock it in place, as shown in the subsequent figure. After debugging, the model text can be parameterized without issues.
Summary: By exploring this approach, I learned how to control model text parameters effectively using nested families, which greatly simplifies the modeling process.
