How to Set Up Building Walls in Revit
Start by opening Revit and creating a new building template. Navigate to the floor plan view within the project browser. Then, from the menu bar, click on Walls and select the option to create building walls.
Next, in the properties panel located at the bottom left corner, click Edit Type. Duplicate an existing wall type by copying it, and rename the new wall as “250mm Wall”. To modify the wall’s structure, click Edit Structure, then add a surface layer. Set the thickness of the first surface layer to 50mm and adjust the structural layer thickness to 200mm.
Now, let’s assign materials to the wall layers. Click on the material setting for the surface layer to open the Material Browser. Choose Paint as the material, select a yellow color, enable the option to use rendering appearance, and click OK. Repeat the process for the structural layer by selecting Brick Masonry as its material, then confirm by clicking OK.
With the wall type configured, draw a wall segment in the drawing area. In the properties panel, set the wall height to 2500mm and click Apply. Finally, switch to the 3D view to review the wall’s appearance after these settings, as shown in the image below.
