Linking Revit Models Enables Seamless Collaboration
Link Model
Linking multiple models allows you to effectively manage different components and enhance performance, especially when working on large-scale projects.
Workflow: Using Linked Models in Schedule Tables
To include data from linked models within your schedule tables, follow these steps:
- Enable the inclusion of linked model elements in the schedule.
- Select which linked models should be visible in the schedule.
- Optional: Add project parameters or area schemes related to linked models into the schedule.
Controlling Visibility of Linked Models
You can manage the visibility of both linked and nested linked models within the main project model.
Options you can control include:
- Displaying linked and nested models across the entire main model
- Showing linked and nested models in specific views within the main model
- Adjusting the graphics that represent linked and nested models in views
Tagging Elements in Linked Models
When tagging elements in the main model view (C), you can also tag elements within linked models (B) and nested models (A).
Both the standard tag and multi-tag tools support tagging of linked elements as well as elements in the host model.
Viewing Properties of Linked Model Elements
To inspect properties of elements in a linked model, hover your cursor over the element and press the Tab key to highlight it. The attributes will then appear in the Attributes panel.
Note that the properties of linked model elements are read-only and cannot be edited directly.
Managing Linked Models
If the source file of a linked model is updated, Revit automatically refreshes the link when you open the project.
To manually update a link without closing your current project, first unload the link and then reload it.
Access link management by navigating to the Manage tab → Manage Projects panel → Manage Links.
