Parameter Types and Their Descriptions Corresponding to Different Parameter Specifications in Revit
When working with Revit, it’s common to encounter situations where existing families don’t meet design requirements. In such cases, creating new families becomes necessary to address specific issues. Therefore, understanding the specific meanings of parameter types and assigning the appropriate parameters to your model is crucial. Today, we will introduce the rules associated with different parameter types.
Classification of Parameter Rules
1. Open Revit, then click on “Clan” and select the “New” command. This will open the “New Family – Select Template File” dialog box. Here, choose the “Metric Telephone Equipment Body” template as an example, as shown in the image.
2. Next, click “Create”. Under the “Attributes” panel, find the “Family Type” editor. In the pop-up “Family Type” dialog box, click on “Parameters”, then select the “Add” command. In the “Parameter Type” dialog box, you will see the “Regulations” options, as illustrated below.
3. After selecting the appropriate regulations, the classification will be displayed as shown in the figure. This represents the classification of regulations.
Relationship Between Parameter Regulations and Parameter Types
1. When selecting the public regulations category, the corresponding parameter types will appear, as demonstrated in the image.
2. Switching to structural regulations reveals other related parameter types, as seen in the figure.
3. Different parameter types carry different meanings. Using public regulations as an example, the meanings of their parameter types are explained in the accompanying figure.
Summary: By studying the parameter regulations within family templates, I have gained a clear understanding of the properties and parameter types associated with these regulations. This knowledge will assist in setting appropriate regulations for new families during the modeling process, thus facilitating efficient modeling.
