Using Revit for 3D View Layouts: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Use Revit for Layout in 3D Views

When building a family in Revit, there are times when you need to perform layout work directly within a 3D view. However, while drawing paths, you might notice that paths can only be created on a single plane. So, what can you do if you need to draw paths across multiple planes? Here is a method that might help you accomplish this task.

1. First, create a shape and switch to the 3D view. Use the layout command and select the option to pick the path, then draw the path accordingly.

Feel free to create shapes that suit your specific needs to serve as guides for your layout paths.

2. Alternatively, you can predefine model lines and then select these lines when drawing. It’s important to note that only model lines are visible in 3D views, making this a useful approach for layout work across different planes.
