Quickly Draw Curtain Boxes in Revit Using Line-Based Generic Models
When working on interior decoration in Revit, it is often necessary to create curtain box components. Typically, when using a generic model, you need to set the length of the curtain box every time you load it. Today, we will introduce a faster method to draw curtain boxes efficiently.
1. Open Revit and create a new family using a line-based generic model, as shown in the image below.
2. Once opened, switch to the right elevation view and set the contour parameters for the curtain box, as illustrated in the figure.
3. Next, go to the menu tab: Create > Layout > Draw Path, as displayed in the screenshot.
4. After drawing the path, select Edit Profile. In the pop-up dialog, choose “Facade: Right,” then return to the right elevation view as shown.
5. Sequentially draw the outline of the curtain box and lock it to the reference plane you just created, as depicted in the image.
6. Once the outline is complete, click the Complete button on the mode panel to finish the profile editing, as shown.
7. Finally, load the family into your project. Draw a section view to test whether the curtain box can be parameterized correctly.
This method allows you to quickly draw curtain boxes. In addition, it can be applied to other elements such as moldings and benches, provided their sides are consistent. This approach significantly saves drawing time.
