Using the Masking Area Feature in Revit Drawings
When working in Revit, even after adjusting various settings, you might still find unwanted graphic elements appearing in your drawings. These unnecessary details can clutter your work and need to be hidden to create a cleaner, more focused presentation.
There are several methods to hide such elements, typically by controlling their visibility. However, when dealing with an imported base map, selectively hiding specific areas can be challenging. This is where the Mask Area command in Revit becomes especially useful. It allows you to not only cover individual elements but also entire regions within your drawing.
Here’s how to use the Mask Area command:
- Go to the Annotation tab and locate the Region command. Click on Mask Area, as illustrated in the image below.
- Once activated, the Modify/Create Mask Region Boundary mode will appear. Choose the Rectangle option to start drawing the mask boundary.
- Draw a rectangle around the area you want to mask, as demonstrated in the figure.
After selecting the desired area, confirm your selection by clicking the checkmark (✓) button in the tab, as shown in the example.
Why use Mask Areas? Masking areas helps to quickly resolve issues related to unwanted visual elements during image production. It effectively hides unnecessary parts of your drawing, ensuring your final output meets the required clarity and presentation standards.
