Exporting and Importing Detail Table Standards in Revit
Detail tables play a crucial role in Revit, as data classification, organization, and project statistics heavily rely on them. Today, I will guide you through the process of exporting and importing detail table standards in Revit, which helps minimize repetitive tasks in your projects.
First, create a new project file in Revit and draw several pipes in the plan view, as illustrated below.
Next, create and configure a detail schedule according to your required standards.
Right-click on “Detail Schedule/Quantity”, then select “Create a Detail Schedule/Quantity”. In the pop-up “New Detail Table” dialog box, choose the category “Piping” and click “OK” to generate a piping schedule, as shown in the image.
Within the “Detail Table Properties” dialog, set the necessary fields under “Fields”, “Sorting/Grouping”, and “Formatting” as demonstrated.
The resulting detail schedule should appear as shown below.
Afterward, save the project file as demonstrated.
Open another project file where you want to add the detail schedule, as depicted.
Import the previously saved project file containing the schedule, as illustrated.
In the “Insert View” dialog, select “Detail Schedule”, as shown in the image.
At this point, create a new detail schedule in the current project and configure it to match the standards of the imported schedule, as shown.
Summary: This method allows you to easily add a schedule to any project file after establishing a schedule standard. It prevents duplicate creation and configuration, ensuring consistency in schedule content and formatting across projects.
