How to Place Model Text in Revit
If you need to add the project name during your work, the Model Text tool is the way to do it. But how exactly do you place model text in your project? First, it’s important to understand that model text is usually placed on the surface of a component. Therefore, before placing model text, you must set a work plane to ensure the text is correctly positioned on the component’s surface.
To begin, set a work plane by selecting Set from the Build tab.
After clicking Set, a dialog box will appear for selecting the work plane. In this dialog, choose Pick a Plane and then click Confirm.
Once you click OK, find an appropriate spot in your project to place the model text. For example, if you want to label the building, select the area where the work plane will be set. If you have trouble selecting the desired plane, you can press the Tab key on your keyboard to cycle through available options.
After setting the work plane, select the Model Text tool.
When you click on the Model Text tool, a dialog box will open for editing the text. This is where you can enter the building’s name. For instance, the example project name used here is “Pubei People’s Hospital.” After editing, place the text on the work plane you just set.
After placing the model text, you may notice that the orientation is incorrect. To fix this, use the Rotate command located in the Modify toolbar to adjust the text to the proper angle.
