Shortcut for Centralized Modification of Bridge Annotations in Revit
After completing the construction and debugging of the management system in Revit, the next step is to carry out annotation work. Typically, standard bridge annotations are used to label the bridge system, making it easier to modify and preventing long bridge names from cluttering the drawings. However, since the model was created by different team members, naming conventions may vary. When integrating the entire model, updating bridge annotations can be challenging, requiring a quick and efficient method to modify all bridge labels.
1. Open the annotation drawing of the bridge frame. Select a professional bridge frame, then right-click and choose Select All Instances → Visible in View. Refer to the illustration below.
2. At this point, all cable trays of that discipline in the current view will be selected. Only the selected elements will be visible (use the shortcut key HI). See the example below.
3. Open the CAD drawing to locate the electrical discipline drawing. Compare the cable tray directions in the CAD to confirm that all selected cable trays belong to the same discipline. Once confirmed, select all cable trays, locate the annotation parameter, and modify the name accordingly. Refer to the diagram.
Why This Technique Matters:
Because annotations are parametric, modifying the bridge annotation for an entire discipline will automatically update the corresponding bridge names. This significantly simplifies the process of renaming bridge annotations, boosting post-processing efficiency. Additionally, this method helps verify the consistency between each professional bridge model and the drawings during later stages, ensuring model completeness.
