Alternative Logic Behind Unclosed Rooms in Revit
On the top floor of a certain computer room building, all walls are enclosed, yet the rooms added there consistently show as unclosed. This is a peculiar issue, especially since rooms on other floors close without any problem. Interestingly, when the walls surrounding the unclosed room were copied into a new project, the room was recognized as closed.
Setting aside factors like view range and room height calculations affecting elevation, the root cause was eventually identified within Revit’s logic. It turns out that rooms placed on roof components cannot be closed. Revit seems to consider it unreasonable to have rooms located on the roof, so it does not close these rooms. In practice, this means that while the room name can be assigned, no area is calculated for it, as illustrated in the image below:
The solution is to replace the area beneath with a floor slab.
