How to Batch Modify Drawing Numbers and Add Custom Prefixes in Revit
Functionality
Batch modify drawing numbers with ease.
Supports adding custom prefixes and suffixes to drawing names.
Allows filtering and naming drawings based on multiple criteria.
Instructions for Use
1. Launch the Correct Drawing Name command from the Drawing panel on the Quick Drawing tab. This will open the Modify Drawing Number dialog box, as shown below:
2. Drawing Data Representation: Click the dropdown arrow to view all available filtering options related to drawing attributes.
3. Set Data Values: After selecting a filtering criterion from the drawing data options, you can filter drawings by specifying different values for that criterion.
4. The left side of the dialog displays all drawings in the current project. Click to select individual drawings. When a drawing is selected, you can execute commands on the right side of the dialog (note: batch modification does not require selecting drawings).
5. Move to Top: Moves the selected drawing to the top of the list.
6. Move Up: Moves the selected drawing up by one position.
7. Move Down: Moves the selected drawing down by one position.
8. Move to Bottom: Moves the selected drawing to the bottom of the list.
9. Number Prefix: Adds a prefix to the drawing name.
10. Starting Number: Sets the initial number for batch numbering of drawings.
11. Number Length: Determines the format of the starting number:
- 0 or 1: starts numbering from 1
- 2: starts numbering from 01
- 3: starts numbering from 001, and so on
12. Name Change Preview: Preview the effects of your numbering settings before applying them.
13. Batch Renaming: Click this to rename drawings based on your configured settings.
14. Close: Exit the current command.
Tips
1. You can move drawings within the list by selecting the drawing name and dragging it to the desired position.
2. To move a drawing directly to the bottom of the list, select its name and click anywhere in the blank space below the list.
