Summary of Common Issues When Importing CAD Files into Revit
1. Sometimes, imported graphics do not appear in Revit after importing a CAD file. This usually happens because the graphic’s scope is too large. To resolve this, explode the CAD file and delete any unnecessary parts before importing. After importing, right-click on an empty space in the Revit drawing area and select “Zoom to Fit” to display the graphic properly.
2. During the CAD import process, ensure that the “All” option is selected. Failure to do so may result in incomplete or missing elements, as illustrated below.
3. If certain parts are invisible, these might be elements painted using Tianzheng software. To fix this, open and save the drawings in the T3 format using Tianzheng, then import the files into Revit. This ensures all elements will be visible.
4. Another common issue arises when the CAD drawing includes external references (Xrefs). In such cases, you need to bind the external references within CAD, save the file, and then import it into Revit to see all components correctly.
