How to Quickly Export NWC Files for a Family in Bulk
When creating equipment layouts for construction sites in Navisworks, we typically arrange the components in a Revit file before exporting to Navisworks. While this process is straightforward, reopening and exporting large Revit models—especially those with only a few mechanical devices—can be time-consuming.
If there are only a few pieces of on-site equipment missing—for example, if you forgot to place tower cranes in a certain area or arranged fewer trucks than needed—I have a simple method to speed up the process. Here’s a quick trick to share.
You can create an empty Navisworks project file, then drag and drop the equipment family files directly into the Navisworks environment. This action automatically generates NWC files in the same location as the original family files. Afterwards, you can attach these NWC files to your Navisworks model and position them accurately using the move command, as shown in the image below.
