Revit Mechanical and Electrical Circuit Annotation Guide

Revit Mechanical and Electrical Annotation – Circuit Annotation

Functionality

This tool allows you to annotate selected pipeline circuits with customizable options, including:

  • Choosing different annotation style types
  • Adding a leader line and setting its length
  • Labeling pipes below a specified diameter
  • Labeling pipes shorter than a specified length

Usage Instructions

  1. Launch the ‘Circuit Annotation’ command from the ‘Mechanical and Electrical Annotation’ panel located in the ‘Quick Map’ tab.

If you have not previously run the ‘Add Pipe Top and Bottom Parameters’ command, a prompt will appear, as shown below.

In the Annotation prompt dialog box, you can either choose ‘Exit to Modify’ to run the ‘Add Pipeline Top and Bottom Parameters’ command first, or select ‘Continue Annotation’ to proceed directly.

Note: It is recommended to exit and run the ‘Add Pipeline Top and Bottom Parameters’ command before annotating, as this automatically loads tag families provided by Mount Olive for easier annotation.
  2. When the mouse pointer changes to selection mode, hover over any pipeline within the circuit you want to annotate and click the left mouse button to select it.

This will open the Batch Annotation Settings dialog box, as shown below.
  3. Select the desired label type by clicking the dropdown arrow under Label Type and choosing from the list.
  4. Check the Add Leader option to include a leader line in the annotation. Leave unchecked if no leader is needed.
  5. Enable Delete Existing Annotations Before Adding to remove any previously added annotations made with this tool. If unchecked, existing annotations will remain.
  6. Set the lead length using the Annotate Distance to Pipeline option.
  7. Specify a threshold length in Mark Pipelines Longer Than to label only pipes exceeding this value.
  8. Specify a diameter or width threshold in Mark Pipelines Larger Than to label pipes exceeding this size.
  9. Click [OK] to apply the annotation to the selected pipeline according to your settings.
