Complete Loading of Revit Duct Fittings
When working in Revit software to design duct systems, you may find that the default duct fittings provided by the system do not fully meet your project requirements. In such cases, you can load additional duct fitting families to extend the available options.
As illustrated below, after loading a rectangular duct fitting and editing its type, you can automatically generate the appropriate fittings when drawing ducts with a rectangular cross-section.
From the image above, notice that the “Four Connections” fitting is not initially visible among the loaded families. However, when you select the air duct fittings in the project, you will see that the family has been loaded. This happens because the family’s attribute is not set to “four-way,” even though “four-way” appears in its name.
To resolve this, place a rectangular tee fitting into the duct system, then double-click it to open the Family Editor.
Following the steps shown, navigate to the family types and adjust the family parameters to set the part type as “four-way.” After reloading the family into the project, it will be recognized as a four-way fitting within the routing system configuration.
This process highlights an important concept: when creating a family, it can be loaded into the project without specific component properties. To enable certain functions or classifications, you must assign the appropriate properties through the family type and parameter settings.
