How to Quickly Draw Concave and Convex (Variable Cross-Section) Walls in Revit
When working with Revit software, especially during the mold flipping process, you often encounter special walls. These include uneven decorative walls and walls with varying cross-sections that require precise modeling. Here are some useful tips to help you quickly edit concave and convex walls.
1. Open Revit and draw a wall in your project. Switch to a 3D view, select the newly created wall model, then go to the Modify | Wall tab and use the Create Parts command.
2. In the Modify | Components contextual tab that appears, click the Split Parts option within the Parts panel.
3. Under the Modify | Partition tab, click Edit Sketch in the drawing panel.
4. When the Modify | Partition > Edit Sketch tab opens, select the Work Plane settings.
5. In the pop-up dialog box, choose the Pick a Plane option, click OK, then select the side elevation of the wall.
6. A rectangular outline will appear, representing half the thickness of the wall. Click OK to split the wall into two parts.
7. Select one of the two walls. In the Modify | Components tab, click the Split Parts command in the Parts panel again. Then, under the Modify | Partition tab, click Edit Sketch in the drawing panel and sketch the desired pattern.
After finishing your edits, click OK. Select the edited wall side again, then navigate to Modify | Components | Parts and click the Exclude Panel command to exclude unwanted parts.
9. Finally, adjust the Coloring Style for a realistic effect. The result should closely match your design intent.
10. With these steps, you can create satisfying and customized wall designs based on your project requirements.
