How to Transfer Revit Models Without Losing Textures and Materials
When working with Revit, you might use custom materials or decals that aren’t part of the default system library. However, when transferring your model to another computer, these textures often get lost. Today, we’ll explain how to prevent this from happening.
1. First, create a new folder on your D drive and name it texture. Place all the decals and texture files you use into this folder.
2. Apply these textures to your model elements, such as using the floor slab to carry the decals, referencing the textures from the folder you just created.
3. On the target computer, make sure to copy the entire texture folder to the exact same file path.
4. When opening the model on the new computer, set the default path for user files to match the original computer’s texture folder path.
5. By following these steps, you will avoid losing textures when transferring your Revit model.
Why is it important to transfer models without losing textures and materials?
When creating detailed models, custom decals and textures are essential for realism and precision. Ensuring these assets remain intact during delivery prevents the frustration and embarrassment of missing textures on the recipient’s end.
