Creating Your Own Material Library in Revit: A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Build Your Own Material Library in Revit

Creating high-quality materials in BIM can be time-consuming, especially when you want to reuse them across multiple projects. To save yourself the hassle of repeated adjustments, we’ll show you how to build a personal material library that you can take with you anywhere.

1. First, open the Material Browser and select the Create a New Library command.

2. Give your new library a name.

3. Next, choose the materials you want to save, right-click on them, and select Add to to include them in your new library.

4. Use the Display Library Panel option to switch between material libraries via the drop-down menu located in the top-left corner of the panel.

5. To organize materials, create categories by selecting the material and dragging it with the left mouse button into the desired category.

6. Your personal material library is now set up. When switching computers or performing other tasks, simply copy the library file and add it to the Material Browser by choosing Open Existing Library.
