Recently, I have noticed that many newcomers to Revit frequently ask questions such as, “Why is my Project Browser missing?”, “Where is my Status Bar?”, or “Why does my interface look different from yours?”
To help new users, here’s a brief introduction on how to customize the Revit interface.
There are three main areas in the Revit interface that you can personalize:
First, the Quick Access Toolbar is located at the top of the software.

You can customize this toolbar by clicking the small down arrow on its right side.

Second, the tool palette is commonly used during your design process. On the right side of the tool palette, you’ll also find arrows that allow you to choose different display options for the dashboard.

Besides the default “Maximized” layout, there are three other interface styles available, making a total of four. You can switch between these styles yourself to see what works best for you. If you are comfortable using shortcut keys, you can choose a simpler interface that uses less screen space.
Finally, within the tool palette’s View panel, there is a “User Interface” command. This allows you to customize settings for elements like the Project Browser, System Browser, Properties, Status Bar, and more.

Feel free to click and explore these options to understand what each of them controls and how they affect your workspace.
