How to Connect Steel Beams in Revit: Methods and Constraints

Connection Methods and Restrictions for Revit Steel Beams

When drawing two connected steel beams in Revit, you may notice that the parts intended to connect do not automatically join.

To resolve this, select the “Modify” button in the modification toolbar, then choose Beam/Column Connection.

After clicking, two small arrows will appear at the intersection where the beams meet.

Click on these arrows to join the two beams together.

However, this method has several limitations:

  • The beam cannot have any rotation angle.
  • Both beams must be of the same type.
  • If one beam is diagonal, both beams must lie on the same vertical plane.
