Recently, while attempting to install the BIM software Revit 2015 on your laptop, you encountered an error stating that the operating system is unsupported. The message reads: “You cannot install this product on the current operating system. Please refer to the system requirements for more details.” Interestingly, the same version of the operating system and Revit installed without any issues on a desktop computer. After further investigation, two possible solutions were identified to resolve this problem.
The first solution involves modifying the installation setup file. Right-click on the Revit 2015 installation package’s Setup.exe file, select Properties, then set it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode with administrator privileges. After applying these settings, proceed to run the installation again.
If this approach does not resolve the issue, the next step is to upgrade your system using the Windows 7 upgrade packages. This is particularly relevant if your laptop is newly purchased and the operating system has just been installed. After performing the system upgrade, you should be able to install Revit successfully.
Here are the download links for the two Windows 7 system upgrade packages:
WIN7 SP1 Update Download: https://pan.baidu.com/s/1c006HR6
Windows 6.10 KB976932 Download: __AI_ST_URL_0__
Start by installing the WIN7 SP1 Update, followed by the Windows 6.10 KB976932 update.
After applying these upgrades, if the installation error still appears when running the setup program, try disabling the compatibility mode by right-clicking on Setup.exe, selecting Properties, and turning off compatibility mode. This adjustment has been found to allow the installation to proceed successfully.
Additionally, make sure that the installation package path does not contain any Chinese characters, as this can cause installation errors.
