Question:
When exporting 3D views from Revit to DWG, the resulting surfaces cannot be used effectively in AutoCAD. Viewing these models in AutoCAD may cause performance issues with the generated DWG files.
Reason:
This occurs because Revit exports 3D objects as multi-faceted mesh entities by default. AutoCAD struggles to handle these mesh objects efficiently, which leads to the performance problems.
Solution:
To improve compatibility and performance in AutoCAD, export the Revit objects as ACIS solid entities instead of mesh objects:
1. Click on the application icon.
2. Navigate to Export > CAD Formats > DWG.
3. Click the option button on the right, then select Export Settings from the dropdown menu.
4. In the Modify DWG/DXF Export Settings dialog box, go to the Entity tab.
5. Select the ACIS entity option.
