How to Expand the View Space in Revit

BIM Software Tip: How to Expand Your Revit View Space

When working on models, I often feel that the screen space is too limited. To effectively increase your viewing area, I recommend closing both the Project Browser and the Properties palette. But how can you continue modeling smoothly after closing these windows?

Here’s the method:

1. Many users have their window layout arranged similarly to the image above. Simply right-click on the area highlighted in red and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar.

As shown in the illustration below:

After adding the shortcut, you can close both windows to free up space. You might wonder how to filter and switch components without the Project Browser and Properties palette visible. The image below makes it clear how this works at a glance. (Personally, I find myself using the Project Browser quite often.)

3. When you need to bring these windows back, it’s easy. Use the shortcut key PP to open the Properties palette, or right-click in an empty area of the view and select Properties from the menu.
