BIM Software Tip: Restoring Non-Workshared Files
Backup files for non-workshared projects are saved in the same folder as the main project files. These backup files include a four-digit number before the .rvt file extension. For example, if your project file is named Project1.rvt, the backup will be named something like Project1.0001.rvt. The highest number corresponds to the most recent backup.
To restore a file, simply open the backup file and save it. When saving, if the filename you choose doesn’t include a four-digit sequence, the system will prompt you for confirmation. Clicking “Yes” will also ask whether you want to overwrite the existing project file, if it still exists.
You can specify how many backup files are created when you first save the project. In the Save As dialog box, click the Options button and enter the maximum number of backups you want to keep. To change this setting later, go to the File menu, select Save As, click Options in the dialog box, and update the maximum number of backups.
