BIM Software Tip: How to Copy and Paste Text into AutoCAD Annotation Fields
Starting with AutoCAD 2013, the method for pasting text into annotation windows has changed compared to earlier versions. Follow these steps to ensure your text is pasted correctly:
1) Copy the numerical text (using CTRL+C) from any source like Word or Notepad, as long as it consists entirely of numbers.
2) In AutoCAD 2012 or earlier, when using dynamic input, start the circle command by specifying the center and radius.
3) After selecting the first point, paste the copied text into the radius input box by pressing CTRL+V.
Note that the text will be pasted directly into the text field.
However, from AutoCAD 2013 onwards, if you perform step 3 as before, AutoCAD will try to paste the clipboard text into the drawing itself rather than into the radius text field.
Solution:
No extra steps are needed for AutoCAD 2013 and later versions. When you reach step 3, after clicking the first point of the circle command, be sure to click on the command line before pressing CTRL+V to paste the text correctly into the input field.
