BIM Software Tip: How to Resolve the Uninstallation Link Prompt in Revit

When working in Revit, you might encounter a dialog box popping up unexpectedly during modeling.

Here are some useful tips to address the issue of wanting to open a linked file without uninstalling it.

First, let’s briefly explain why this dialog appears. For example, if you open a DR professional model that contains a link to an AC model, and then try to open the AC model again without closing the DR model, the dialog box will appear.

To avoid this, simply open the DR model as usual. Then, to work with the AC model, launch Revit again separately and open the AC file from there.

By following this method, you can prevent the “chain drop” dialog from appearing.
