How to Draw a Stretch Roof in Revit: Step-by-Step Guide

BIM Software Tip: How to Draw a Stretching Roof in REVIT

Begin by drawing a rectangular wall on the floor plan at Elevation 1. Then, select the Stretching Roof tool.

A pop-up window titled Work Plan will appear, prompting you to choose a view for drawing the roof.

Click on the north wall to use it as a reference. This action will open a dialog box listing all named views parallel to that wall.

From the list, select Facade: North, then click Open View. The software will switch to the north facade view, confirming that the drawing elevation is set to Elevation 2 with no offset.

Next, use the Starting Point – Endpoint Radius Arc tool to create the outline of the extruded roof. When finished, select Complete Editing Mode.

Note: You do not need to close the roof outline to generate a roof—this is a unique feature of stretching roofs. To connect roofs and walls, attach or edit the wall contours as needed.
