Using V-Ray in 3ds Max to Add Simple Slicing and Transparency to Revit Models

BIM Software Tip: Use the Vray renderer in 3ds Max to create simple cutaway perspectives for Revit models.

To start, take a snapshot of your Revit model:

Cut the areas you want to highlight within Revit, then import the model into 3ds Max.

Export the model in FBX format. Once imported into 3ds Max, organize the model and adjust the materials as needed. Since high-end effects are not required, focus on cleaning up the model before beginning the rendering process.

After importing into 3ds Max, apply slight modifications to the cut perspective and proceed with rendering.
