BIM Software Tip: Stretching Roofs in REVIT
Begin by drawing a wall using a rectangle on the floor plan at elevation 1. Then, select the Stretching the Roof tool.
At this point, a pop-up dialog box titled Work Plan will appear.
You will be prompted to select a view for drawing the roof.
Click on the north wall to use it as a reference. The dialog box will display all named views parallel to this wall. Select Facade: North and click Open View. The software will switch to the north facade view, where you should confirm that the drawing elevation is set to Elevation 2 with no offset.
Use the Starting Point – Endpoint Radius Arc tool to create the outline of the extruded roof. When finished, click Complete Editing Mode.
Note: You do not need to close the contour to generate a roof, which is a unique feature of stretching roofs. To connect roofs and walls, attach or edit the wall contours accordingly.
