BIM Software Tip: Revit Tips for Placing Rooms
I would like to share a useful technique for placing rooms that I hope will help you. In the image below, you can see a closed space with sloping walls.
Start by placing the room boundary on a flat surface.
Next, create a section view and examine the rooms you have placed. You will notice that the room boundary line appears as a rectangle rather than following the trapezoidal shape formed by the sloping walls.
A simple adjustment is needed to correct this. Let me explain the steps:
First, go to Room and Area and select Area and Volume Calculation. In the pop-up panel, choose Area and Volume and then click OK.
Click Confirm as shown in the figure below.
Then, select the floor plan level where the room is located (for example, if the room is on the first floor, select 1F). Next, in the properties panel, click Edit Type, find Calculate Elevation, set the value to 0, and click Confirm as shown in the following figure.
