The Long March Culture Digital Art Museum, designed by China Zhongyuan International Engineering Co., Ltd., is situated in Guiyang, China. This immersive museum offers a digital art experience centered around the theme of the Long March. It features six themed exhibition spaces and officially opened to the public in October 2023.

The design concept, known as the “Red Ribbon on Earth,” cleverly uses the site’s elevation difference from north to south. Large structures are concealed beneath a roof that blends into the mountains, leaving only two red roofs visible at the top. The ribbon-like, winding form symbolizes the ribbon rooted deeply in the earth. This architectural approach not only reflects the serious and profound theme of the Long March but also harmonizes the large-scale building with the natural surroundings.

The architectural space centers around the “spark of stars,” with a series of spatial scenes arranged around this core to create an immersive environment. Visitors begin their journey by walking through a gradually narrowing corridor that isolates outside noise. At the corridor’s end, they enter an entrance plaza enclosed by towering walls. In the center lies an undulating infinity pool, featuring a five-pointed star torch symbolizing the spark of stars.
From here, visitors proceed inside the building to explore various indoor performance spaces. Even after the performances, the pentagram torch and starry flame remain visible from within the building, maintaining a strong connection to the central theme.

The red ribbon structure employs contemporary technology to reflect the rich and diverse colors of the sky and earth, evolving beyond a single red hue to create a dynamic color that changes over time. This innovation reinterprets the traditional “Chinese red,” making it more connected to the environment and people.
The ribbon’s curves are designed parametrically to ensure smooth transitions, and the supporting steel frame includes gaps that allow daylight to filter through, creating a corridor space rich in light and shadow.

As part of the Long March National Cultural Park, the Red Ribbon connects various digital display areas including mechanical interactive theaters, ring screen theaters, and flying theaters. Together, they present a vivid, panoramic narrative of the Long March journey to visitors.
