Over years of practice, BUZZ Zhuang Ziyu Studio has embraced the concept of the “mountain” rooted deeply in Eastern imagery as a continuous theme. Unlike the Western perception of mountains as solid, immovable entities, Eastern tradition views them as dynamic and flowing, akin to clouds and air. This philosophy shapes not only artistic expression but also forms the core of BUZZ’s architectural approach.

Located in the mountainous region of Mayangxi, Anruoyunsha marks a departure from previous low-density projects. This structure integrates closely with the mountain, rising as a vertical multi-story form. The key challenge here was to merge high density, fluidity, temporal variation, and a balance of strength and softness. The spatial design adapts to the mountain’s twists and turns, with fluid shapes that link internal commercial spaces, creating a seamless and picturesque transition.
To minimize environmental impact, experiential areas are elevated, giving a sensation of floating and offering visitors a unique spatial encounter.

One side of the building nestles against the mountain, offering views over the valley and distant peaks. The opposite side opens outward, adopting a forward-leaning posture. Through layered and staggered volumes, the building dissolves into terraces and courtyards, creating engaging interactions with the landscape.
The roof eaves are designed with a soft, ribbon-like quality that reduces visual heaviness, connecting adjacent structures and enlarging the scenic and commercial focal points. This fluid architectural language establishes Anruoyunsha as a pioneering project within the Minnan residential complex.

This approach transcends mere terrain imitation and is deeply rooted in terrain architecture theory. Internal spatial continuity and layered volumes coexist, with functional zones and circulation paths defined by shifting topography. The design directs visitor movement, fosters openness, and stimulates exploration.
The undulating roof offers a rich sensory experience, while viewing platforms and curved forms provide varied perspectives and visual windows.

From the outside, the building resembles a massive ship sailing through waves; inside, its eaves flow seamlessly into the mountain landscape, blending nature and architecture. This immersive experience enhances traditional landscape painting, aligning spatial narrative with human imagination: morning sunlight bathes the building, enveloped in clouds and mist, evoking the sensation of a mountain cruise.
The Art Exhibition Center features a tall curved display rack and a spacious atrium, offering an uninterrupted visual journey. The bookstore salon provides an exceptional vantage point with panoramic views. The relationship between interior spaces and the facade creates a striking visual tension, embodying both gentleness and strength.
By removing obstructions behind the dormitory and installing large windows, natural scenery is brought inside, encouraging moments of tranquility.

The cultural and creative spaces link art exhibition centers and bookstores, facilitating cultural activities that deeply integrate spatial design with function. This synergy transcends traditional boundaries, offering visitors a novel experience of “moving through varied landscapes.”
