Recently, I’ve noticed many online friends asking where to find BIM software training in Beijing. It made me really happy to see that BIM—a powerful tool driving the industrialization and digital transformation of construction—is finally gaining the recognition it deserves. People are starting to pay serious attention to it.
Beijing offers a variety of BIM training courses through different institutions, each with its unique focus. Here, I want to share my personal experience with BIM training, using Revit training as an example.
1. BIM Software Engineer Training
Generally, BIM software engineer courses focus on teaching software operation skills. The audience is quite broad—anyone involved in architecture with some basic knowledge of CAD can join. Typical course content includes architectural, structural, and MEP modeling; creating and managing Revit family libraries; and an introduction to Navisworks applications.
This training equips participants with three-dimensional modeling skills across multiple disciplines such as structural engineering and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP). It also enhances capabilities in design, construction simulation, animated walkthroughs, quantity takeoff, and producing construction drawings.
By studying BIM software engineering, you will be able to:
- Understand the latest trends in the construction industry and appreciate the value of BIM implementation;
- Become proficient in operating mainstream BIM software and project templates across various fields, mastering the modeling process and practical applications;
- Gain expertise in comprehensive multi-disciplinary coordination and clash detection.
2. BIM Technical Manager Training
The role of a BIM technical manager differs from that of an engineer. While engineers focus primarily on technical skills, technical managers need to oversee the entire project. This requires not only familiarity with Revit and related software but also an understanding of construction standards, interdepartmental collaboration, schedule management through integrating BIM with P6, cost control applications, BIM operation and maintenance, and process development.
Training as a BIM technical manager will help you:
- Develop proficiency in using mainstream BIM modeling software;
- Enhance your skills in personnel organization, hardware and software management, BIM implementation planning, the establishment of BIM standards, workflow design, and technical roadmap development.
That wraps up my introduction to BIM software training options in Beijing. I hope this overview helps you better understand the available BIM training opportunities.
