Today, we introduce you to MicroStation, a versatile platform designed to integrate seamlessly with architecture, engineering, and construction software.
Bentley Architecture, a BIM software for architectural design, was launched in 2004 as an evolution of Triforma. Building on this foundation, Bentley developed MicroStation Architecture V8i, a series of additional modules based on BIM concepts. These modules offer workflow management and generate reports related to quantity takeoff, budgeting, and construction design.
Leveraging MicroStation’s powerful drafting capabilities, Bentley incorporates cost and other lifecycle parameters throughout engineering design, construction, and operation phases. It transforms 2D and 3D CAD drawings into components with embedded attributes, enabling parameter data mapping. This effectively integrates 2D and 3D design, quantity calculation data, and models for practical application.
When combined with other MicroStation module series, this approach extends the use of BIM and broadens its practical applications.
MicroStation also includes ProjectWise, a project collaboration management software used to facilitate teamwork across various BIM platforms. ProjectWise manages data from multiple disciplines within a project, supports files from different MicroStation modules, and enables collaboration between different BIM software, allowing users to access and work on data within their respective environments.
Features of MicroStation:
MicroStation offers a comprehensive suite of building information tools suited for the majority of needs in the building, engineering, and construction industries. It supports complex curved surfaces and includes customizable parameter objects to develop intricate classes.
That concludes our introduction to MicroStation. We hope this overview proves helpful to everyone interested in exploring this powerful tool.
