Where Can I Find Detailed Explanations for BIM Level Exam Questions?

As the national BIM skill level exam gains momentum, the session held on December 12-13 marks the seventh round of this important certification. This exam is a nationally standardized test assessing BIM skills and qualifications, jointly organized by the Chinese Society of Graphic Design and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. Many candidates have started seeking detailed explanations about the BIM level exam, including information on exam types, modules, majors, question volume, and difficulty. As an official examination and training institution established by the Chinese Society of Graphic Design, Beijing Wanxi Benchmark Architecture Culture Center—a recognized BIM architecture online certification unit—would like to provide an overview.

Starting from the seventh session, the National BIM Skill Level Examination distinguishes between two levels: Level 1 and Level 2. Below is a breakdown of each level.

Level 1 Exam: BIM Modeler

The Level 1 exam carries a total score of 100, with a passing threshold of 60. It consists of five main modules:

Part 1: Engineering Drawing and BIM Modeling Environment Settings

Part 2: BIM Parametric Modeling

Part 3: BIM Attribute Definition and Editing

Part 4: Creating Drawings

Part 5: Model File Management

Level 2 Exam: Architecture Major

The Level 2 exam currently offers certification only for architecture majors. It is also scored out of 100, with 60 as the passing score. The exam covers seven modules:

Part 1: Engineering Drawing and BIM Modeling Environment Settings

Part 2: Production Process and Skills of Architectural Families

Part 3: BIM Modeling for Architectural Scheme Design

Part 4: Performance Analysis of Architectural Scheme Design

Part 5: Drawing of Construction Drawings

Part 6: Creating Drawings

Part 7: Model File Management and Data Conversion Skills

As you can see, the Level 2 exam covers a broader range of topics. Candidates should approach it strategically, making informed choices during preparation. The difficulty level is manageable as long as the key knowledge points are well understood. However, due to the large volume of content and limited exam time, effective time management is crucial.

To support students in mastering the BIM level exam content, our learning center offers comprehensive BIM training sessions prior to the exam. These sessions cover not only the official BIM exam syllabus but also practical project application knowledge. Topics include collaborative management methods, worksets, links, software and hardware environments, modeling techniques for various mechanical and electrical disciplines, collision detection, and detailed explanations of exam concepts.

Additionally, to facilitate self-study and practice at home, our center has created detailed video tutorials based on real exam questions from previous years. These videos thoroughly explain the operational steps and relevant knowledge points from the first through the sixth sessions of the National BIM Level Examination.

We hope this information helps all candidates prepare effectively and successfully pass the exam.
