This observation deck and café, designed by the architect, overlooks the Tottori sand dunes in Japan. It features a mixed structure primarily composed of cross-laminated wood combined with reinforced concrete.

The cross-laminated wood exterior is designed to evoke the image of a “staircase to the sky,” offering a warm texture that harmonizes effortlessly with the surrounding sand dunes.

The interior design honors local craftsmanship in tribute to Tottori City’s rich folk art heritage. Chairs are crafted from cross-laminated wood, while pendant lights are created using locally sourced sand and paper.

The bathroom sink is a product of Nakai Gama, a traditional pottery workshop in Tottori. It features a striking blend of green and black glass.
