2023 has begun with a promising start to the Chinese New Year. Domestic commodity consumption surged by 10% year-over-year during the holiday, with the market rebounding much faster than anticipated. This surge reveals the public’s strong desire to return to normal life and highlights the resilience of the Chinese market.
Following the reopening of the country’s borders, international trade activities have become vibrant again. The first half of the year saw numerous international exhibitions, with Chinese exhibitors showing even greater enthusiasm to “go global” than in 2019. The waiting list for participation in the 2024 R+T Stuttgart exhibition has already been activated. After a three-year hiatus, international buyers are equally eager to reconnect with the Chinese market. According to our recent survey, about 70% of overseas buyers plan to attend the R+T Asia Doors and Windows Sunshade Exhibition in Shanghai this July.
With anticipated further easing of entry policies in the third quarter, international exhibitions and trade exchanges are expected to thrive even more.

Domestically, the doors, windows, and sunshade industry is gradually recovering, driven by supportive market policies. Property searches across various tiered cities have increased significantly. Moreover, the suspension of demolition and renovation projects during the pandemic is expected to trigger a wave of growth in the downstream home furnishing sector.

As both domestic and international markets recover, commercial activities are resuming momentum. R+T Asia will embark on a new chapter from July 26-28, 2023, at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai), marking a fresh start. Alongside its strong foreign trade capabilities, the event will collaborate with the Build ASIA Mega Show to establish a comprehensive industry service platform. This platform will integrate industry connections, engineering procurement, design applications, and international trade. The third quarter, with its favorable timing, will see this industry event helping door, window, and sunshade enterprises regain market share.

Cross-Border Integration: Creating Opportunities for Door and Window Sunshade Enterprises
In 2023, R+T Asia continues its partnership with HD Asia Home Decoration and Lifestyle Exhibition, covering multiple categories such as fabric curtains, wallpapers, smart home solutions, outdoor furniture, bedding, carpets, and art decorations. This collaboration aims to help enterprises tap into the trillion-dollar home soft furnishing market while fully leveraging designer resources.
A smart home-themed concept museum will be created, empowered by 5G and AI technologies, to explore new commercial real estate intelligence avenues.
Ultra-Low Energy Buildings: Advancing Sustainable Development
A themed exhibition area dedicated to ultra-low energy buildings will showcase high-performance new enclosure structures, energy-efficient doors, windows, and sunshades, as well as photovoltaic building integrations. This initiative focuses on diverse energy-saving technologies to promote low-carbon development in the building sector.
Industrial Linkage: Fostering Upstream and Downstream Industry Synergy
Expanding beyond the doors and windows sunshade sector, R+T Asia will join forces with the Build ASIA Mega Show Asia Architecture and Decoration Exhibition. Together, they will integrate soft decoration, hard decoration, and smart decoration categories, emphasizing engineering procurement, design, and end-user applications. This comprehensive approach will help enterprises connect across the entire construction and decoration supply chain, exploring cross-category product survival strategies, and driving mutual industry upgrades.
Engineering Centralized Procurement: A New “Real Estate + Engineering” Model
This new procurement model creates IPD Home model rooms in collaboration with real estate companies, featuring five prefabricated real-life setups including hotels, medical facilities, offices, furnished residences, and chain spaces. Concurrently, the ITED Conference on Interior Industrialization will be held to share the latest trends in industrialized interiors and advance prefabricated decoration development.
Three Themed Series Addressing Industry Hotspots

It will bring together leading architects, interior designers, real estate developers, tooling companies, integrators, and manufacturers from home and abroad.
