Project Overview: Located at the entrance where several villages converge, the community activity center features a layered courtyard design that encourages gradual exploration. It functions as a cultural hub for villagers, hosting festivals, leisure film screenings, and educational lectures. It also offers a welcoming space for the elderly and children from neighboring villages to relax and socialize. Serving as a symbol of rural transformation and modernization, the center facilitates external service reception and cultural exchanges.

Design Concept: The outdoor area and architectural design together create a “three-dimensional park” open throughout the day, comprising four main zones:
- A circular ceremonial courtyard designed for celebrations and everyday relaxation;
- A rooftop platform centered on a hill, offering panoramic views of the village and fields—ideal for morning and evening exercise, fitness dance, and children’s climbing activities;
- A corridor courtyard that encloses the book area and exhibition hall, providing a quiet and private retreat;
- “Shuyuan,” the northern entrance courtyard, integrating original poplar trees and featuring a transitional space with solid brick walls and metal accents.

The primary building materials—local red bricks and metalwork—reflect the region’s heritage. Handmade red bricks honor the traditional architectural style of surrounding villages, while the locally produced steel components, characterized by their dark gray hue, complement the red bricks and create a distinctive architectural landmark.

Despite the modest site size and limited budget, the design employs strategic solutions to maximize space usage and offer a variety of activity settings. Residents can freely utilize the defined areas—such as open courtyards, rooftop terraces, and indoor rooms—according to their preferences. To streamline management and upkeep, the community center operates on a time and zone basis. This allows people of all ages from nearby villages to enjoy the space around the clock, reigniting the lost vitality of the village community.
