Situated in the heart of Tianfu New Area, the Tianfu Roadshow Art Center by Xinglong Lake acts as a cultural, artistic, and technological innovation showcase for the region. Its close proximity to the lake and the presence of an urban landmark on the horizon demand a thoughtful and integrated approach to the spatial design, form, and its relationship with the surrounding environment.
The design seamlessly integrates the Roadshow Art Center into the lakeside park. On the city-facing side, the architecture adopts a modest and supportive stance, offering visitors elevated spaces with expansive views. Facing the lake, the structure spirals gracefully, creating diverse and inviting waterfront areas. With its simple form and rugged texture, the building appears from afar like a massive creature emerging from the lake, blending uniquely into the landscape with symbolic and expressive qualities.
The building’s facade draws inspiration from the coarse rocks found by the lake, featuring a semi-transparent outer shell shaped as a wave-like grid. These grilles not only reduce direct sunlight during the day but also provide a dynamic and rich architectural expression at night.
The facade’s transparency creates a seamless connection between the exterior and interior spaces. The structure, ceiling design, and shifting light and shadows form a gradient sequence with a strong visual orientation toward the lake.
The expansive 2-kilometer lake view serves as a stunning urban backdrop for the interior spaces. This column-free grand area facing the water offers a unique spatial experience, providing visitors with an exceptional waterfront living environment.
