Component names should clearly convey information such as the floor level, purpose, size, location, and other relevant details, in addition to indicating the drawing component name. This approach allows business personnel to quickly extract essential information. To prevent naming conflicts when importing different models into the same file during collaborative modeling, it is important to establish a standardized naming convention before starting the modeling process.
Currently, Revit is widely used for modeling. To ensure that quantity calculations comply with regional regulations across China, Revit models need to be imported into domestic calculation software for component-based deduction calculations. To enable these domestic software solutions to accurately extract information and classify components from Revit models, vendors like Guanglian Da and Luban have developed dedicated plugins and set specific naming rules.

The key to matching components between Revit and Luban software lies in using the “component type” project parameter for keyword matching. To improve classification accuracy when exporting Revit components to Luban, a custom attribute called “component type” can be added within Revit. This attribute should utilize the “type” parameter, with values entered according to the examples provided in the table below.
It is also important to align component names with those used in exported 2D floor plans. The matching process between Revit and Guanglian Da (GLD) components mainly depends on component names. When naming Revit components, make sure to include the keywords specified by GLD, especially when working with alternative families.
For instance, a raft foundation in the drawing could be modeled in Revit using families such as foundation base plate, floor plate, or floor edge. However, the name must include “raft foundation” or the abbreviation “FB.” Otherwise, after importing into Guanglian Da civil engineering calculation software, the component might be misclassified.
