The Chengdu Hisilicon Plaza, designed by the international architectural firm 10 Design (part of Egis Group), has been completed and is now open, attracting several leading technology companies.
Located in the Xinchuan Innovation and Technology Park within Chengdu High-tech Zone, this innovation park is a joint project by Sichuan Province and Singapore, spanning 1034 hectares. It serves as a new commercial service community for the digital new media industry, housing companies such as Hisilicon Pharmaceutical Group, OPPO, Founder Technology, and Kwai.

Barry Shapiro, Managing Director, explained, “The overall master plan for this multifunctional business park centers on social interaction. Our goal is to create a truly inclusive, people-oriented space for all businesses and visitors. We have integrated a series of interconnected public spaces throughout the project, fostering community engagement and unlocking unlimited commercial potential.”

Design director Nick Cordingley led the team to win the design competition in 2016, after which Scott Findley took over as design director to further develop and realize the project’s unique vision. Haisco Plaza benefits from an excellent location near a subway station with convenient transport links. From the outset, the design positioned it as a vibrant hub serving the surrounding commercial and residential neighborhoods, tailored for innovative and knowledge-intensive enterprises.
The park features office spaces and retail leisure facilities arranged along an east-west green central axis. Each functional area is connected by a multi-level pedestrian network. The architectural complex is carefully organized, rising gradually from west to east. Low-rise commercial buildings with high pedestrian activity are located on the west side, drawing visitors’ attention to the park’s core. The striking headquarters office tower stands prominently at the northeast corner, serving as a city landmark. Rental office buildings are staggered in between, creating a varied visual hierarchy.

To improve pedestrian experience, all pathways are arranged around the site’s perimeter. The design integrates lush greenery throughout the park. Each building includes an open garden terrace, providing office users with relaxing outdoor spaces for interaction. On the north side facing the street, a wide landscaped trail invites visitors to linger, responding to Chengdu’s culture of outdoor living.

The headquarters building, the project’s iconic centerpiece, consists of three blocks stacked in a stepped formation, creating garden terraces on the south side. The building’s parallelogram floor plan maximizes efficient use of space, with offices arranged around a central core to accommodate headquarters users and multiple tenants flexibly. It also houses a new research and development center tailored for client needs.

The commercial retail zone features flexible floor plans with large terraces that support diverse business models and offer ample outdoor dining space. Shops and restaurants are situated along the central green ridge, intertwined with a sunken plaza and pedestrian bridges, forming the main activity hub that attracts foot traffic deep into the complex.
Above the retail street, rental office buildings employ varied floor layouts and architectural configurations, enabling flexible adaptation to tenant needs. This includes multi-level headquarters spaces for large corporations as well as shared office areas designed for startups.

The larger mid-rise office building is positioned on the north side of the site, while smaller low-rise offices line the south side, ensuring optimal natural light for all buildings and embracing views of the central street. Multi-level setback garden terraces on the south side provide additional leisure space for employees and help to block direct sunlight inside the offices.
The building exteriors draw inspiration from Shu embroidery, featuring vertical textures and interwoven patterns that define the project’s unique style. The design team enhanced the overall neutral palette with vibrant accent colors, emphasizing the project’s modernity and dynamic energy. The high-performance curtain wall system incorporates low-emissivity glass combined with longitudinal louvers, applying passive design strategies to provide shading, reduce energy consumption, and minimize indoor glare.
