BIM technology, a cutting-edge innovation in the construction industry, combines multiple functions such as 3D rendering and visualization, rapid calculations for improved accuracy, precise planning to reduce waste, multi-scenario comparisons for effective control, virtual construction for enhanced collaboration, collision detection to minimize rework, and conflict resolution to support decision-making. This comprehensive integration significantly elevates the coordination of construction projects and has generated strong interest within the industry. China Railway First Group will apply this technology to the construction of the Longmen Yellow River Bridge on the Menghua Railway—a key and challenging project for the Menghua Coal Transport Special Line—guiding the entire construction process.
BIM model of Longmen Yellow River Bridge
Following the signing of a BIM strategic cooperation agreement between China Railway First Group Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Luban Software Co., Ltd. in December 2015, BIM technology has been implemented for the first time to guide on-site construction. Collaborating with Shanghai Luban Software, the bridge company developed a detailed model using comprehensive data related to the Longmen Yellow River Bridge. This digital simulation visualizes the bridge and supports construction management through virtual exercises.
BIM technology helps address many uncertainties encountered during construction by enabling better coordination and optimization of construction planning in advance. It plays a vital role in managing complex and challenging projects, while also ensuring the safety, quality, timeline, and cost control of the project.
