Situated within the emerging Dashahe Innovation Corridor in Nanshan, Shenzhen, the Southern University Science and Technology Park offers an exceptional environment and platform for scientific research and technological innovation. Adjacent to Shenzhen University’s new campus, the development spans 15.2 hectares and includes IT incubation spaces, research and development offices, medical device development centers, and entrepreneurial service areas. The architectural and planning approach creates an incubator and educational hub for entrepreneurs, researchers, and startups.

The design concept centers around nature—as a valuable resource, a repository of knowledge, and a source of inspiration. Modern science and technology often draw from nature for answers and ideas. The site design integrates a central public landscape while preserving existing terrain features, including an ancient mound and former military boundaries. This comprehensive strategy respects the natural topography and organizes the space within the urban framework, enclosing a central green area surrounded by distinct functional zones.
The four key functional zones include:
- Inspiration Park – Enterprise Incubation Center
- Research Park – Medical Equipment Center
- Knowledge Park – Entrepreneurship and Service Center
- Implementation Park – Outsourcing Service Center

Each park serves a different function and features distinct architectural styles, yet they all share a common “city” center—the Central Landscape Park. Architecturally, the parks respond to the site by employing unique building forms that frame the central landscape, define external spaces, and create clear boundaries. The project innovates through its site design by minimizing disruption to the natural environment and carefully adapting to the existing terrain.

These technologically advanced buildings offer a variety of interior spaces tailored to diverse functional needs. From structures featuring central courtyards to high-rise office towers, each building’s unique form creates park corridors and responds thoughtfully to the surrounding environment.

The project combines active and passive environmental design strategies to reduce operational costs, save energy, and conserve materials. The architectural planning is highly flexible and uniquely tailored to meet the demands of today’s innovative work environments. Overall, the science park is envisioned as a dynamic city—a “city of development, opportunity, and reward.”

Block B of Tower B1, known as “Inspiration Park,” serves as a business incubation hub to encourage IT professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to innovate and explore. The architectural design unites research and development, production, and education platforms within one cohesive space. The B1 Tower is a striking architectural landmark, dubbed the “Tower of Inspiration.” It holds a pivotal role in the technology park and visually anchors an axis stretching from the top of the ancient tomb mound to the park’s eastern edge.

The tower’s design thoughtfully responds to the site and functional needs, creating a distinctive skyline silhouette and visual centerpiece. Standing elegantly at 110 meters tall, the tower blends harmoniously with neighboring buildings without appearing abrupt. Its form and floor plan are carefully crafted to deliver high-quality workspaces, incorporating efficient layouts that maximize views from within the offices.

With its elegant, winding form rising 110 meters, the tower stands as the technology park’s focal point and a prominent visual landmark in the area.
