Revit, an Autodesk software, supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) by enabling users to design, construct, and maintain higher-quality, more efficient buildings. All elements in Revit are family-based, which allows users to manage and modify model data more easily. This family concept is fundamental to Revit’s parametric modeling capabilities.
Steps for Parametric Component Modeling in Revit
Using the variable cross-section beam segment from this project as an example, the following outlines the parametric modeling process:
① Select the appropriate family template file. Depending on the component’s characteristics, you typically choose either the “Metric General Model” or the “Adaptive Metric General Model” template.
② Within the Family Editor, set up reference planes according to project requirements, then proceed to add annotations.
