Problem: This warning appears when a line-based element is misaligned, meaning it is not perfectly horizontal, vertical, or at a 45-degree angle relative to the horizontal or vertical directions. The acceptable deviation ranges between 1x (10-9) and 0.2 degrees.
Warning: The graphic element’s slight deviation from the axis may lead to inaccuracies.
Causes: This issue commonly arises when elements are drawn or rotated with angle snapping disabled. It can also result from pre-existing elements during the following operations:
- Creating elements by selecting faces or lines that are slightly off-axis.
- Aligning elements using a reference that is slightly misaligned.
- Decomposing AutoCAD imports that contain lines not perfectly aligned to the axis.
- Generating floor area faces on volumes with geometry that is slightly off-axis.
- Snapping the endpoint of a line to a reference that is slightly off-axis, such as an imported drawing or two columns that aren’t fully aligned.
- Snapping line endpoints to correctly positioned references within their respective contexts, but where the lines themselves are slightly off-axis, for example, aligning to two different ceiling grids.
This off-axis issue is important to resolve because Revit cannot accurately create dimensions between lines that aren’t perfectly parallel. Additionally, it cannot properly connect or cut geometric shapes when faces are slightly non-parallel or when there are small gaps caused by off-axis elements.
Solutions: Depending on the root cause, consider the following approaches:
- Drag the endpoint of the off-axis element slightly until it snaps onto the correct axis.
- Repeat the rotation operation with angle snapping enabled.
- If the inaccuracies stem from existing elements, correct those elements before repeating the operation.
- If the problem is due to imported data, correct the data in the original software and then re-import it.
