Revit software offers significant advantages, including engineering quantity estimation, automated construction drawing generation, and detailed modeling capabilities.
Collision Detection
Construction collision detection primarily involves two types: soft clashes and hard clashes. Soft clashes occur when the reserved space between two components is insufficient for construction, maintenance, or operation. Hard clashes, on the other hand, are actual physical intersections between components.
Both Revit and Navisworks software can identify collision points within models by setting collision parameters for components, generating detailed detection reports.
BIM-based models enable simulation of construction progress, workflows, and animations, allowing all stakeholders to intuitively identify hidden risks and promptly address them. Comparing various construction plans helps select the optimal approach.
Quantity Calculation
Revit software supports project quantity calculations by generating detailed tables that quantify area, volume, and length for each construction unit. However, these tables sometimes require manual adjustments because the data may not fully align with the project specifics, and their format often differs from standard bills of quantities.
Construction Drawing Production
Revit leverages BIM technology to dynamically display 3D models of construction projects. Designers can update graphics to reflect actual engineering conditions and produce detailed sectional and elevation views highlighting critical construction details.
Simple modifications tailored to the construction site allow for the creation of site plans and the export of detailed component drawings. On-site engineers and construction personnel can easily interpret design intentions through the software’s integrated 3D and 2D drawings.
